Liebster Award!

I am excited to announce that I, Ashley Rock have been awarded the Liebster Award by the ever talented Sybrina K! (click here to check out her ah-mazin' blog!) Thanks, Sybrina!

So, what is this Liebster Award?? "...general consensus is that it originated in Germany. Liebster, means favorite or dearest, and the Liebster Award is designed to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the awards, the recipient must pass it on to five more blogs of note"

I am passing the torch--- I mean, Liebster Award---- onto these following and oh so inspiring blogs!

*Christina, blog Don't Worry, Be Scrappy.

*Raechelle Bellus

*Tiffany Henderson. I Am My Design.

Sweetest Smile Card

Good Mornin' Ya'll!

I have this cute little card to share today using the Basic Grey "Konnichiwa" line. I made this card for Cord Scrapbooking Studios as part of my Design Team work =)

When I first was looking through this line the adorable little girl and the lanterns caught my eye right away! I knew I had to incorporate them into a card somehow, I used a red zig writer to draw dashes and make the lanterns appear as if they were hanging. After I put the rest of the card together I was trying to come up with a fitting sentiment, so I continued to look through the stickers for inspiration until I came across the "sweetest smile" which I thought was fitting and perfect!

Materials Used:

*Vanilla Cardstock
*12x12 sticker sheet
*Hello Friend
*Koi Pond
*Catseye: Chesnut

Basic Grey: Konnichiwa Layout

Top of the morning to ya! I have a layout to share today that I made using Basic Grey's Konnichiwa for our Disney trip!

This layout is from the boyfriends first trip to Disney World! He grew up in West Africa for the first part of his life, moved to the States around age 13 to live with Aunts and Uncles so he knew about Disney but really had no idea of the amazingness that he had yet to see! Leading up to our trip the only thing he knew and would talk about was "that big castle" he could not wait to see it. We went to Magic Kingdom on our 3rd day there (the second park that we went to) and for those 3 days he was asking "Are we going to see the castle today?" It was so much fun seeing how excited he was and showing him ALL that Disney has to offer.

Materials Used:

****To make the large triangles, I cut the paper down to 6x6 and then cut it in half from top right to bottom left to make the triangle shape. (The inner triangle are 5x5 cut in half)
*Almond Cream Cardstock
*Jiko
*Good Afternoon
*Mt Fuji
*Pagoda
*Alphabet Stickers
*Fabric Brads
*Catseye Ink: Chesnut
*Jasmine Tea
*Stickers

Little Yellow Bicycle: Saturdays Layout

Little Yellow Bicycle "Saturdays" is a line that I absolutely fell in love with!!! The colors are amazing and the texture of the paper is unlike any other. This is a layout that I designed for Cord Camera Scrapbooking Studio.

This layout is when Baz and I took his mom to see Chicago! Baz's mom lived with us in Ohio for 5 months last summer/fall when she came to visit the United States for her very first time. She flew into NYC and Baz drove there to pick her up, she was very overwhelmed by all the large buildings at that point, but after living with us in Ohio for about 3 months we thought she might like a change of scenery since she had time to adjust. It was a very long day but we decided to make it a 1 day trip, so we woke up at 5am to head to Chicago, we arrived around 11am and checked out Navy Pier, walked around the Magnificent Mile and then we took her to the Willis Tower (Formerly known as the Sears Tower). As someone who has never been higher than the 2nd floor of a building she was nervous! We calmed her and promised it'd be okay, once she got up top she was amazed at the view, absolutely loved it, but of course there was one last fear we had to make her concur! There was a glass floor where you could stand on it and see all the buildings below, at first she was reluctant, but we talked her into standing on it for a picture, she got on, we snapped the picture and she ran off the second we told her we were done. LOL. Next we headed over to get some Chicago style pizza and then we were back on the road going to Columbus. It was a wonderful trip and she was glad she got to see it but at the end of the day she told Baz how glad she is that he does not live in one of those tall buildings. =)

I am excited to share with you May's Sketch Of The Month along with a layout! Here is the Sketch:

And here is the layout I made using the sketch:

This is also a layout and sketch that I made for Cord Scrapbooking Studio using Jillibean's Chicken Dumpling Soup. I LOVED the colors in this line, they are so bright and fun and thought they would go great with some cruise pictures I had from 2005 when I went on a Disney Cruise! This Disney Cruise is the first cruise (and currently only cruise) I have ever been on-- I LOVED it, anything Disney is done right. It was a 4 day cruise and we cruised to Key West and Disney's private island Castaway Cay, the photo's above are from while we were ported at Castaway Cay--- what a beautiful island!! And look who we found-- Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Goofy!

Material List:

Jillibean Chicken Dumpling Soup
*Bazzill-2 Chiffon
*Pea Pod Parts
*Cardstock Stickers
*Celery Stalks
*Dried Basil

If you make a layout using any of the sketches I post feel free to post them to my facebook page and link back to your blogs, I LOVE to see what is created with my sketches! If you want more sketches, check out my book here or my monthly Sketch Club Here hosted by Pizazz It! Scrapbooks.

Annnnnd there's more!!! I have a bonus take on the sketch, Sybrina K has designed a card based on her take of the layout sketch.

Here is what Sybrina had to say:

  • First, I rotated the sketch 180 degrees.
  • Then came my inspiration. I chose a postcard to use a postcard embellishment with its left and right sides to take the place of the two photos.
  • Finally, I used masculine colors and embellishments to turn a feminine sketch into one suitable for the gentleman who is retiring -- just as you suggest in your book
