Card Sketch: June 2012

Good Morning! I have something a little different for you all today! I have been working on card sketches for the last few months but have not had the chance to fully put anything together but today I am excited to share with you all my very first Card Sketch!!

And Here is a take on my card sketch by Sybrina K
I just LOVE the fun bright colors she used for this card!

About The Card:
I used two blue strips for the polka dot strips in the sketch. Then I added a few strips to the top and bottom of the top blue strip to bring more color to the top of the card. Finally, I added a few buttons to bring in even more color and to balance out the large element at the bottom left of the card.

**If you make a card using this sketch please share!! I love to see what has been created using my sketches! The best place to share is on my facebook page, click here to go!

Bella Blvd Sunshine & Happiness: Double Page Layout

And finally it's Friday!!! Yay!
Today I have a double page layout to share with you that I made for Cord Scrapbook Studio's using the Bellas Blvd "Sunshine & Happiness" collection.

While in The Gambia Baz and I made tons of new friends but I'd have to say we connected with Kelly and her husband Lamin the most. Kelly and Lamin were on vacation from the UK with their 2 kids visiting Lamin's family, we met and hung out on the beach talked about the differences between UK and the States and also about Gambian culture and all that comes along with being a Gambian while living in a "rich" country & how to support their Gambian family's financially along with having your own family and yourself to support. It's always nice to be able to connect with others who go through what you go through that most people may not understand. We met up a few times after meeting on the beach and have remained good friends since, I love how it is so much easier now to keep in touch with people, it makes for a wonderful support system ;)

Bella Blvd: Sunshine & Happiness Card

Hump day is here! The work week is half way done and then it's time to relax and get some sun in my system! {okay, maybe not relax, but I will get some sun!}

With sun in mind, I have a card to share today that I made for Cord Scrapbook Studios, using the Bella Blvd Sunshine & Happiness Collection.

I loved this line because they had so many wonderful patterns! The patterns were nice and tight so it made it so easy to used several pieces and cut them down to put on a card, something that is hard to do with the larger patterns. And of course I had to put a piece of designer tape on there, my newest addiction!! I love the tapes!

Materials Used:

*Bazzill White
*Cute Cuts
*Boarders
*Sunnyside Up
*Petal Power
*Miniatures
*Catseye Ink-Black

BoBunny "Alora": Columbus Art Museum

Ahhh Monday, here we meet again! And today I have a layout I created for Cord Scrapbook Studios using the BoBunny "Alora" collection. I really loved the fun, bright colors of this line, it went perfectly along with the pictures from the Columbus Art Museum!

Baz is taking a few courses at our local college and was assigned to write a paper on a piece of art at the Columbus Art Museum so he was given a couple of tickets to get in and I tagged right along! It had been a while since I have been to that museum and I was pleasantly surprised how much it has changed and how much more interactive it has become. Every room had some sort of interactive piece, my favorite being the peace tree where you wrote down your wish/dream for the world. I am so happy that I live in a city with so many amazing attractions for people of all ages!

Material List:

*2 Bazzill White
*Leaves
*Cut Outs
*Stitches
*Burst
*Combo Stickers
*Dimensional Stickers
*Jillibean: Braised Brown Alphabeans

BoBunny Alora Single Page

It's a beautiful day out here in the Columbus, Ohio area, sunny and currently in the high 70's! Just lovely! To go along with the theme of sunny and beautiful I have a layout to share that I made for Cord Scrapbook Studios using this fun and bright BoBunny "Alora" line!

This layout is of my beautiful niece Ami, she lives in The Gambia with Baz's mom (Ami's grandma) while Baz's sister (Ami's mother) lives in Angola. It is tradition that as a daughter if you leave your home country you leave your first child with your mom to take care of them if you have a child before you leave, it is like saying I am leaving but here is a piece of me to remember. It is very hard, tradition or not to leave your child but Ami is in good hands and surrounded by tons of family members and children her age, she is a very happy kid. While in Gambia Ami was my best friend, full of spunk, teaching me the language and always entertaining. I miss everyone there but most of all I miss this little girl, I can only imagine how big she is now. After we left Gambia, Baz's mom pointed to a plane and told Ami that I was on that plane, now still to this day every time Ami see's a plane she yells "Ah-chee-lay" in attempts to pronounce my name. I cant wait to see her again one day.

Material List:

*Kraft Cardstock
*Doodles
*Cut Outs
*Stitches
*Combo Stickers
*Giggles
*Ribbon: Orange ric-rac
*Adirondak Ink- Citrus & Espresso
*Liquid Pearls-Cream
*Jillibean-Braised brown alphabeans

And here is a video of Ami just running around, just being her own happy self.

Little Yellow Bicycle: Swoon Layout

Finally Friday, woo-hoo!! Below I have a layout to share that I made for Cord Scrapbook Studios using the Swoon line by Little Yellow Bicycle. The swoon line is a wedding based line but like a lot of other lines can most definitely be used outside the theme. ;)

This layout is a page I  made for our trip to Chicago last summer. Baz's mom was staying with us for the summer, she is from The Gambia and this was her first trip to the United States. We wanted to show her some more of the States so early one Saturday we woke up at 5am and set out from Columbus, Ohio to go on our day trip to Chicago! The river front was Baz's moms favorite part of Chicago, you could see the peaceful calm waters and a magnificent view of the downtown buildings, it was beautiful. She sat there speechless, just staring into the water.

*6x6 paper pad
*6x6 Decorative Edge
*Pearl and jewel stickers

Little Yellow Bicycle: Swoon, Guest Book

Wedding season is definitely upon us, ant that means for us wedding goers we need fun & cool gift ideas for our fellow friends and family members who are getting hitched! I made this guest book out of a Maya Roads mini album using Little Yellow Bicycles "swoon" collection, this is also a project that I made for Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio.

A guest book is a wonderful pre-wedding gift to give to your future bride/groom. Below I have pictures of the guest book put together to show how you can display it after the wedding to give a good idea, but what I would do is I would cut several 3x3 squares out of cardstock and leave them on a table for everybody to sign and write a memory or suggestions for the future to the bride and groom, have a closed box that they can place the written on squares so they don't get lost. After the wedding take the squares and arrange them inside the book!

Guest Book:

** I recommend making several pocket pages so you can fit several on one page, and have a couple pages where you display the more personal messages.

Materials Used:

*6x6 paper pad
*Maya Road Book
*American Crafts Thickers: Marquise
*Paper Flower Kit
*Stick Pins
*5 Things Envelopes
*Chipboard Shapes
*Pearl & Jewel Stickers
*Clear Cuts
*Dimensional Stickers
